Scout Motto
“Laging Handa” (Be Prepared)
Since the scouting activity is a training to gain knowledge, this knowledge can be used by the scout to render service and attention not only for himself but also for those who are in need. It is that through that same knowledge that he may be ready and prepared at all circumstances to serve his fellow citizens.
Scout Slogan
“Gumawa ng Mabuti Araw-araw” (Do a Good Turn Daily)
This statement complements the Scout Motto itself – “Laging Handa”. The scout slogan acts as two things for scouts, it serves as a reminder to try to do good things for himself and for others daily and a challenge for scouts to watch his acts carefully.
Senior Scout Slogan
“Once a Scout, Always a Scout”
This slogan simply tells us that we are not just scouts just when we are in our Type A Uniform or if we are still an active member of the aforementioned organization. But once one person recites the Scout Oath and Law, then he is a scout because the motive of scouting is this – Scouts are trained with both skills and attitude to render service to people, all the time… in uniform or not, an active member of the organization or not, Once a Scout, Always a Scout.
Scout Sign, Salute, and Handshake
Scout Sign |
Scout Salute |
How is it executed? The hand is in scout sign and it should be executed in a way that the forefinger touches the edge of the right eyebrow. If wearing a cap or hat, then the forefinger should touch the brim. If wearing eyeglasses, then the forefinger must touch the edge of the right area of the eyeglasses. What is/are its use/s? It is used to render respect to the Philippine Flag and the National Anthem. Moreover, it used to show courtesy and respect to fellow scouts and Scouters.
Scout Handshake Performed using the left hand. Why? According to Prempei I, an African King at the times of our founder, Lord Baden Powell, it all centers on African warriors using the left hand to hold their shields and to lower it and shake the left hand of a person was to show they trusted each other. |
